I've been informed that I've been quite shameful at NOT blogging this past week. Let me just say that we have been CRAZY busy here in the UK. In the past week, we have:
1) Listened to amazing lectures on Margaret Thatcher, the Theory of Infinity (and proved, supposedly, that there were different sizes of infinity -- talk about confusing...), Poetry and Politics, Rock Art in Southern Africa (something to do with tribal trance dances, religion, and cave paintings -- fascinating, huh?), Orchestra Conducting (DYNAMIC professor -- I might need to learn how to conduct an orchestra now), Economics and the Duty of the Citizen (how to apply statistics and know if you, the citizen, are being bamfoozled by the government), and Science and Religion in Oxford (a lecture that I, unfortunately, found wanting -- he read part of his dissertation to us.......and I need to figure out what the man's definition of Christianity is. Apparently, belief in the Trinity is not a necessity.)
2) Visited London's National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, driven to Wales (2 hours away) and visited Chepstow Castle (cutest little castle and town ever! We were there for the end of the town carnival/parade) and Tintern Abbey (read Wordsworth's poem -- "Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey"). Greg, we need to visit Wales. It is darling! The towns are so cute and the countryside is idyllic and perfectly picturesque. I've been told to watch the video on the Wales government tourism website. We also visited Blenheim Palace (where Winston Churchill was "accidentally" born) and the little town of Woodstock. I had tea in a nice, proper tea room, and I know now that I don't like cucumber sandwiches. But I LOVE tea and scones with clotted cream and jam. Oh, and I also went to a British Baptist Church and thoroughly loved it!
3) Begun to look forward to hearing a famous mystery writer (Colin Dexter -- The Inspector Morse Mysteries -- also a series on the BBC) who is visiting us tomorrow, and tonight, we are going to one of the college gardens to see an outdoor performance by the Oxford Shakespeare Company of "Twelfth Night" (for those of you young'uns who don't know the story, think Amanda Bynes and 'She's the Man').

And now, I am beginning to really look forward to coming home as well. I hit the 2-week mark, and all of a sudden, it's just time. I've missed my hubby so, SO much, and while I adore traveling (it's truly one of my favorite things in the whole wide world), I would really, really much rather travel with him too.
